The Power of Prayer
The city of Indianapolis, IN is in the midst of watching a miracle take place. A family friend, Officer Jason Fishburn, was shot twice while serving an arrest warrant for a man wanted for murder (the suspect is in custody now). His vest stopped one, but he was shot in the head and remains critical in the ICU at Wishard Hospital. His father was my dad's home teaching companion and our families grew up together. Jason is 29 and married. His young age, the fact he was in surgery within an hour of the injury, the priesthood blessing given by the stake president at the hospital (stated that his living was the will of Heavenly Father) , the stakewide fast Sunday, and the tremendous outpouring of prayers from the community has led to some pretty amazed doctors. This injury is typically fatal, but Jason is out of the woods as far as the bullet goes. Of course there are other complications that could occur (infection) and his recovery will be a long one. His name has already been submitted to the First Presidency for their prayer list and several temple prayer lists. Updates on his condition have been followed well by the media and can be seen at www.wishtv.com. Please add Jason, his wife, and his family to your prayers.

I'VE SEEN THIS ON THE NEWS, HOPE HIS RECOVERY IS FAST!
Jason Update: He has had a second surgery to relieve fluid built up on the brain, but is doing well. He is breathing on his own, obeying commands by moving his left side of body. The part of his brain that was injured controls the right side of the body, speech, and the ability to understand speech. So far, it seems as though he understands speech, so that is good news!
I HEARD ON THE NEWS LAST NIGHT THAT HE SPOKE....... AND IT MADE ME LAUGH BECAUSE HIS FATHER SAID THAT JASON SAID HE WANTED TO GO FISHING... AMONG OTHER THINGS... WHAT A LUCKY FAMILY
